Shares of PayPal Holdings PYPL spiked higher Wednesday, on unconfirmed market chatter of a potential bid by American Express Company AXP Sources report Amex offered $47 per share in cash and stock.
Spokespersons for PayPal and American Express did not respond to requests for comment.
